"Beauty and the Beast" and "The Tiger's Bride":To Be or Not To Be a Beast?

            The writer's purpose is to get us to understand Madame de Beaumont and Angela Carter's novel's f beauty as the women and beast as the men. They both have the same type of characters but they both end up with diffrent outlooks. I feel as if the writer is attempting to get us to think, are woman really the one's who bring out the "beast" in men or she get's us to look at the more wildside of the beauty and the beast.When she wrote this her audience could obviously be directed towards the people who have read both novel's;but also, the audience could be people(more likely girls) who are having relationship problems or even a relationship between a girl and her father could read this. The author seems to be aware of her audience but she makes it so that even if you haven't read the novel's she gives a great overview of both. The text is not very complicated it's subtle and your able to get a slight image of both sides when she gives quote's. However,The subject is men vs. woman,the relationships between them. It is a subject that the audience would be targeted to and also tuned into. She doesn't just talk about a man and a woman's relationship, she goes farther and deeper into talking about a father and his daughter's realtionship and how woman are naturally with thier father's.But for the purpose or overall main point it would be in Madame de Beautmont's Beauty and the Beast, the woman are protrayed as the civilizing agent, while in Angela Carter's The Tiger's Bride, the women or known to bring out the "beast" in men. So this thesis shows that the subject is the controversary of how woman are to men and the relationships that are brought up between them. The author is trying to prove both sides of both novel's and which makes her thesis controversial, it makes you want to pick a side.But she ends up proving both sides which makes it easier to choose the novel you agree with.
         As the author she  selects a few word's that are more complicated that give a deeper meaning to the point but for the most part the context is easy to understand for the the type of audience she is focused to. The quote's she uses to portray her point's from each novel gives us a clear understanding her important point's she's trying to get us to understand. This evidence that she provides is important to prov her argument because without the proof there really is no argument to prove. In this genre of writing you need quote's from the novel's to make your point. When you provide the commentary for your purpose it's giving more evidence or more reason to prove your point. The evidence that would not really be welcomed here would be fact's from the past or from history. In addition, her arrangement of this piece is structured to talk about one main point through the whole article but still throw's in evidence such as examples of other relationships going on in the novel's. The author begins the introduction with going straight into what the theme is for each of the novel's talked about. It is done effectively because it set's up the article and gives a ifficent overview of what the audience is about to read.Although she set's up a good introduction,she also does use positive transitions throughout the whole entire article. I think they work well because your still getting the point in each paragraph, its not like your losing sight of the main point and drifting into another new main idea.In addition,the author's diction has a formal tone to it more of a sophistication tone to it. The diction used would not be used to be put into younger kid's books, more for teenagers and beyond. The author here does use specialized terms in this case it was when she was describing the quotes. Her writing makes her purpose more understandable with the specialized terms.
                Although there are many specialized terms mentioned from the novel's there are many contrasts and some comparisons to follow up on, there are not any similies are metaphors or anything like that. She tended to use the contrasts and comaprisions when talking about both novels in the sama paragraphs or comparing them to eachother throught the "beauty" and the "beast". I think they are also there to enhance meaning either for the main point over all or to support the quotes.I do feel as if the author herself is an authority of the subject just because her points are clear to understand and she captures the audience well especially to the ones who have not read the novel's.
              This author Basu, her format is similar to what im writing but has a few extra things i haven't been told to do.It has more random paragraphs usually im told to write four or five paragraphs. But it still involves citating, including quotes, thesis, and commentary after quotes. But it also contradicts a few rules that im use to such as the paragraphs and im use to proving one point throught the whole essay such as my examples are focused on my main point but in this article she proves more than one point since she is talking about two novel's and comparing and contrasting them.
